Tandoori chicken is hands-down the most popular dish at any Indian restaurant. Tandoori chicken is traditionally made in a tandoor, which is an Indian clay oven that comes to very high temperatures with a live coal or wood fire.

Since a tandoor is out of the question for most of us, here is your solution for making this amazing recipe at home by making it in a pressure cooker. This pressure cooker tandoori chicken recipe gets you tender chicken without a long marinating time, and finishing it over the grill stand gives it the traditional grilled look. It can be eaten with raita, roti(chapati) to get the best of its taste.

Ingredients for marinade:
(Serves 2)
– 1/4 cup Yogurt
– 2 tsp Garlic Paste
– 2 tsp Ginger Paste
– 1/4 tsp Salt
– 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
– 1/2 tsp Cumin Seed Powder
– 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
– 1/4 tsp Coriander Powder
– 1/2 tsp Carom Seeds
– Oil
– 1/2 Kg Chicken(breast & leg)
– Coriander & Mint Leaves

Ingredients for Cooking:
– 2 tsp Oil
– 3 Tomatoes(puree)
– 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
– Salt
– 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
– 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
– Grill Stand
– Melted Butter
– Lemon Juice

Method:
1. Take yogurt in a large bowl, and add ginger-garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, cumin seed powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder and bashed carom seeds
2. Now mix this marinade well
3. Pour oil over the marinade
4. Add chicken to the marinade bowl and coat chicken with the marinade
5. Add coriander & mint leaves to the marinade
6. Now, in the marinade bowl, place a small steel bowl with hot coal in it
7. Add, ghee on the coal, and as soon as the smoke starts coming, close the bowl with its lid
8. Now, let the marinade rest for at least 2 hours
9. Take a pressure cooker and add oil to it, followed by tomato puree, red chilli powder, salt, cumin seed powder, and garam masala
10. Stir and let the masala’s cook with the tomato puree
11. Now, to this masalas add marinated chicken with the rest of the marinade
12. Stir and coat the chicken with the puree over a medium flame for 5 minutes uncovered
13. Once the oil is separated, turn the chicken and let it cook for 5 whistles on a high flame
14. Now, take the chicken out in a plate and place it on a grill stand over a gas flame
15. Brush the chicken with some melted butter and squeeze some lemon juice over it
