Scrapes and scratches, bruises and burns – all are a part of our daily lives, especially with children. Though these are not a cause for panic, they should be looked into immediately.
If an injury leads to a bruise, which is a discoloured area, but the skin is not broken, place a slice of onion over it.
In a clean towel put some ice cubes, and gently place over the bruised area for some time.
In a cup of warm water, add a tlbsp of vinegar.
Dip a small cotton ball in it, and dab over the bruise after every 3-4 hours.
If a scrape or scratch is not deep, clean it immediately with soap and water, and gently pat dry. Then apply either turmeric, or haldi powder, or honey over it. Not only does this help in the healing process, it prevents infection from setting in.
To staunch blood flow from a wound, apply pressure over it, and then place a tea bag over it.
Too much sugar may be harmful for the body, but it can prove effective for healing a wound. Just sprinkle some granulated sugar over a wound, leave for 15 minutes, and then wipe it off.
Working in the kitchen can cause burns, which are of course very painful. Immediately place some ice cubes over the burn, or apply tooth paste, to prevent blisters forming.
Cut a potato in half, scrape off a piece from the cut side, and place over the burn.
If a wound is deep or a burn too severe, seek medical aid, but most often these simple remedies prove to be adequate treatment.
Exercise caution and precaution, and stay healthy!
