“La sirenita” (título original en danés: Den lille Havfrue) es un cuento de hadas del escritor y poeta danés Hans Christian Andersen, famoso por sus cuentos para niños. Fue originalmente publicado el 7 de abril de 1837.
El cuento de La sirenita es el octavo de la colección de Andersen. Escrito originalmente como un ballet, el cuento ha sido adaptado varias veces —las adaptaciones incluyen un musical, una película animada japonesa de Toei Animation y otra película animada de Walt Disney—.
La Sirenita vive en un reino subacuático con su padre, el rey del mar; su abuela; y sus cinco hermanas mayores, cada una nacida con un año de diferencia. Cuando una sirena cumple los 16 años, se le permite subir a mirar el mundo de la superficie, y cuando cada una de las hermanas tienen la edad suficiente, visitan la superficie una vez por cada año.
Cuando llegaba el turno de la Sirenita, se aventura hacia la superficie, ve un barco con un apuesto príncipe, y se enamora perdidamente de él desde la distancia. De repente, se desata una tormenta y… ¿qué ocurrirá….? Mira el cuento para descubrir el final 🙂
