How to Grow Akavana

Choose a warm, sheltered location when growing Akavana. The vining varieties require a support structure as some can get 15 feet tall.
All Akavana plants prefer sun to light shade sites with well-draining and moderately fertile soil. Install the plant in the ground at the same level it was growing in the nursery pot.
Most Akavana plants are grafted onto the common Akavana rootstock because of its superior hardiness.

C. gigantea is reported to exhibit mosquito controlling properties against Culex gelidus and Culex tritaeniorhynchus mosquitoes which serve as vectors for Japanese encephalitis. The aqueous extract of the C. gigantea leaves demonstrated significant larvicidal, repellent and ovicidal activity.
