Nail Whitening
To discover that your perfectly manicured hands have nails that have turned yellow is nothing short of a nightmare. But yellow nails are not just restricted to women, men can also be affected.
Why do nails get discoloured? Well, that can occur dues to several reasons, particularly lack of hygiene. Fungal infection and smoking discolour nails. However, certain ailments like liver disease, anemia and malnutrition can also result in yellowing of the nails.
Taking care of your nails does not mean just a visit to a salon for a manicure and pedicure. You need to give your nails attention on a daily basis, using just simple home remedies.
Lemon is a natural bleaching agent.
In a small bowl, take one tablespoon of lemon juice and add to it half a teaspoon of table salt.
Mix this well, and massage your nails with it.
Let it remain for five minutes and then wash it off.
You can use this remedy daily till you see results.
While the lemon juice lightens nail color, salt gives them a sheen.
Alternatively, soak your fingers in a bowl of lemon juice for 10-15 minutes.
Now take a toothbrush and gently scrub the nails to remove the discoloration.
Wash your hands with warm water, and apply a moisturizer.
Strange but true- toothpaste not just helps whiten your teeth, but can also help remove nail stains.
Gently apply some whitening toothpaste on your nails.
Keep it on for 5 to 10 minutes
With the help of a nail brush, gently scrub your nails.
Take some cotton balls and soak them in warm water.
Use them to remove the toothpaste.
Try doing this 2-3 times a week till you see results.
Nail polish is the main culprit for yellow nails, so avoid continuous use of nail polish. As a precaution, always apply a clear base coat before you apply nail polish.
Cut and file your nails regularly, and keep them moistened.
Use gloves when you doing work that involves harsh chemicals..
Pretty nails are something to be proud of, so pamper them well!
