How To Remove Dandruff At Home | Home Remedies
I used to struggle with dandruff! What’s worse than someone with visible white flakes on their shoulders? But now I’m dandruff free. After a lot of research and experimentation, I was able to get rid of dandruff at home with some simple home remedies.
I don’t know anyone who hasn’t had dandruff at one point in life or another. According to statistics, over 50% of the world’s population will experience dandruff during their lifetime. So I’m not even exaggerating, it’s a problem that affects so many people. When I had dandruff, I was so embarrassed! It really affected my confidence and I would avoid wearing dark clothes.
Home remedies are very effective to cure dandruff and I will be discussing them soon. However, there is also another more serious type of dandruff known as seborrheic dermatitis. If your scalp is covered by red or yellow scales and is extremely itchy, then you should definitely visit a dermatologist immediately.
Now, lets start with the home remedies. These are simple everyday ingredients that are very effective and I recommend you select one and stick to it for at least a month.
Home Remedies:
Apple Cider Vinegar
I love Apple Cider Vinegar because it has so many uses. I actually drink it in the morning too by adding a few drops of it in a glass of water because of its anti inflammatory and immunity boosting properties. But it could also help you get rid of dandruff.
All you need to do is take a few drops of ACV in a bowl.
This works because when you massage it into your scalp it is absorbed into the hair follicles.
It removes any excess skin build up and helps balance oil production and pH levels.
2. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of the most common products for hair care and is used all around the world. It is packed with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
All you have to do is
Take some coconut oil in your fingertips
Massage in circular motions into you scalp.
And here’s a little secret, if you want something a little more effective you could use something like Satthwas anti dandruff oil.
It has 3 natural ingredients but they are as pure as possible.
They use something called fractionated coconut oil (also known as liquid coconut oil) which does not solidify and does not clog the pores. This ensures your scalp stays moisturized.
The oil also uses 100% pure tea tree oil and lemon oil as they possess antifungal and antibacterial properties that help fight dandruff as well as nourishing the scalp.

3. Honey And Lemon
Honey is delicious! But aside from tasting great, it can also help you get rid of your dandruff problems!
All you will need is a few tablespoons of honey
And a few tablespoons of lemon juice
This works because honey contains anti-inflammatory compounds, antioxidants, and antimicrobial compounds as well. It is also a humectant (retains moisture) that keeps the scalp hydrated. Dryness, itchiness, and flakiness due to the dandruff infection will all be taken care of with this home remedy.
4. Olive Oil and Egg Whites
To make this mask you will need one egg white
Two tablespoons of olive oil
And a shower cap
In a bowl, beat the egg white and mix it with tablespoons of olive oil.
A cold egg will not smell eggy.
Apply this mixture onto your scalp and then work it down to the tips of your hair.
Once your scalp and hair are covered in the mixture, cover your hair with a shower cap to avoid a mess.
After 20 minutes, wash your hair with cool water and a mild sulfate-free shampoo.
Avoid using warm or hot water as it might ‘cook’ the egg.
Finish with conditioner.
You might need to experiment a little to see which of these home remedies best suits you and your hair best.
