HOW TO MAKE ELDERBERRY SYRUP-that’s what today’s video is all about. September is finally here! Fall is my favorite time of year. One thing that I don’t generally enjoy however is the colds that typically come with this season. So why wait until we are in full swing of germ season to give yourself (and your kids) daily immune support. So today we are making a batch of ELDERBERRY SYRUP. This recipe is super simple and lasts a couple months in the fridge. Kids not into taking elderberry syrup by itself? No worries. I have a solution for that too. Next week I’ll be sharing another elderberry recipe your kids are sure to love.

********** INGREDIENTS **********
3.5 cups of FILTERED WATER (we use our Berkey) – https://amzn.to/32T296W
1 cup dried elderberries- https://amzn.to/2Z1O6ee
1 TBSP. ginger: https://amzn.to/2QQcpYm
1 tsp. cinnamon: https://amzn.to/2EWx5uT
1/2 tsp. clove: https://amzn.to/3hWoE1s
1 cup RAW honey: https://amzn.to/2GfOjUC
** optional ** can add 7-10 drops of THIEVES vitality essential oil.
********** HOW TO MAKE YOUR ELDERBERRY SYRUP **********
1. Add 3.5 cups of filtered water to a pot.
2. Add your elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, and clove to the pot and bring mixture to a boil.
3. Once your mixture is boiling, give it a stir.
4. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the mixture has reduced to half.
* you can cover or leave uncovered during this process. I used a pot that allows the steam to vent from the pot. I have two little kids at home so I always feel safer when pots are covered-it’s just a habit *
5. Once your syrup has reduced, remove from the heat, and pour it into a small strainer over a bowl.
6. Using a spatula or spoon, press the berries to remove any excess liquid.
7. Once the mixture is strained, set aside to cool so it’s WARM (not boiling).
8. Once your syrup has cooled, add 1 cup of raw organic honey.
9. Mix until fully incorporated.
10. Pour syrup into a glass bottle or container and STORE IN THE REFRIGERATOR for 2-3 months.
11. Check with your doctor or other healthcare professional about the dosage that’s right and safest for you and your family.
