Head lice are tiny insects that thrive on the scalp by sucking the blood, children being most susceptible to acquiring them when mingling with others in school.
Lice are transmitted from person to person not only through contact, but also by sharing things like combs, caps, and even pillows. Therefore, if anyone has lice, ensure their combs, brushes and linen are thoroughly cleaned.
So how do you deal with this embarrassing situation, which leaves you itching and scratching? Try this very simple remedy.
Grate a large onion, and extract the juice either by squeezing it out with the hand, or placing it over a sieve and pressing it.
Massage this into the scalp for about 5-10 minutes.
Now leave it for about 1/2 an hour.
For the final rinse, add a generous amount of white vinegar to the water. This will dissolve the lice eggs which cling on to the hair.
When dry, comb the hair with a lice comb, which should be used daily till the condition clears.
Repeat this twice a week for about a month.
In 1/2 cup of vinegar, add 1/2 of oil, preferably olive oil.
Massage this into your scalp.
After one hour, wash off the hair.
Lightly warm some coconut oil.
Add a few of any essential oil to it.
Massage it into your scalp.
Leave it on overnight, and shampoo it off in the morning.
Repeat this for at least a week for best results.
Remember, though these tiny parasites may not impair your health, they need to be removed as fast as possible, or the scalp may get cracked and infected.
Maintain cleanliness, and stay healthy.
