When viruses, toxins or bacteria make their way into your food or water, you can get food poisoning. Acute vomiting, diarrhea, or both, cramping in the stomach, and sometimes headache with nausea and dizziness, all indicate food poisoning, which should not be ignored.
It is very important to drink plenty of water if you get food poisoning. For one, the body tends to lose a lot of fluid, which can lead to dehydration, and also, water flushes out the toxins from the body.
Wash well a small piece of ginger.
Grate it and boil for 4-5 minutes in one cup of water.
Strain, add a tsp of honey and drink after a meal.
To get instant relief from the stomach ache and nausea, mix 1 tsp fenugreek or methi seeds, with 4 tsp of curd, and swallow this.
Take a handful of tulsi leaves, or basil, and crush them coarsely.
Mix this in a small bowl of curd.
Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper.
Have this a couple of times a day.
Try to avoid food or drink for a few hours to allow the stomach to recover, just sipping on water or ice cubes.
Make sure you do not have any dairy products till the stomach settles down.
Gradually start eating, beginning with plain toast or black tea or coffee.
If the condition does not settle down in a day or two, visit the doctor.
Avoid roadside food or drink, especially during the rainy season, to protect your stomach.
