Day in the life when we were snowed in! We started off by getting almost a foot of snow. Because we are only 45 minutes from one of the local ski resorts, a foot of snow isn’t bad. We headed out to a little town about 45 minutes east of where we live to visit one of our favorite breakfast spots-Red Bird Cafe. We had plans to go shopping for antiques after breakfast. While eating breakfast we checked the weather at home and noticed that another large storm was headed our way, and fast. So to be safe, we opted to head back home and wait out the storm. Well, it was almost a week later before we could leave the house. We were hit with almost 5 feet of snow in a two day period! We made national news in our small little town and the national guard had issued a state of emergency for the state of Washington due to all the snow. They closed down most of the highways, closed down the pass to the mountain and even the ski resorts were closed and unable to operate because of the amount of snow we got in such a short period of time. We spent a lot of time playing board games, drinking tea and hot cocoa and shoveling snow from our trampoline. The school district was closed which also meant that our tiny Montessori school was closed. Thats right, kids home for an entire week. I am one tired momma!
Next week, Mark and I head up to Canada (weather permitting) to check on the progress of our log home. We are expected for the snow to start up again Tuesday which will in turn determine if we are able to leave or not. We’re hoping its just a light dusting of snow but it looks as though we may actually be getting snow the entire week and into the following week.
