It is said, it takes a week for a common cold to settle with treatment and 7 days without, so if you have to endure it either way, just try to make it a bit more bearable.

Why does a common cold occur? The reasons are several; it could be a result of just a change in the weather, an allergy, or a viral infection. The symptoms, however, like fever, cough, sneezing or just general malaise, can be quite discomforting, so try these simple steps to get some relief.

Take a piece of fresh ginger.
Peel and chop it fine.
Add about 2 cups of water.
Bring it to a boil, and then simmer for about 10 minutes.
Strain, add honey and sugar, and drink hot twice a day.

Peel and grate ginger to get about 8 tlbsp.
Place this is a glass jug or jar.
Add ¼ tsp of cinnamon powder, and mix well.
In a pan, heat 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.
Pour this over the ginger, and cover to ensure the steam does not escape.
Allow to rest for ½ an hour.
Carefully strain this.
Take one cup of the liquid, and add the juice of ½ lime and 1 tsp of honey.
Heat this again, and drink it hot.
Refrigerate the remaining ginger liquid, and heat and drink 2-3 times a day.
