When the weather turns cold, it often causes dry and chapped lips, which can be painful and can also bleed. People tend to keeping licking at the lips due to the discomfort, but this can prove to be more detrimental.
Not only the cold, but long periods out in the hot sun can also result in chapped lips.
However, this needn’t cause any distress, for there are several easily available ingredients in the kitchen that can provide relief to the lips.
Wash well a cucumber and grate it.
Squeeze out the juice and apply to the lips for 10 minutes, and wash with water.
Do this several times a day.
Strange as it may sound, gently rubbing mustard oil into the navel can provide relief from chapped lips.
In one tsp of castor oil, mix 1 tsp of glycerin.
Add 3-4 drops of lime juice.
Apply this to the lips at night before going to bed.
With a small cotton ball dipped in warm water, wash it off in the morning.
Consume plenty of water on a daily basis together with foods rich in vitamin A. Avoid licking the lips excessively, and do not pick on the dry skin of the lips. Simple enough measures, but very effective nonetheless.
