What happens to your body when you die?
Let’s face it; no matter how much you love life, you’re going to die at some point — it’s one of those things we can’t escape.
But have you ever given thought to what happens hours after your final heartbeat?
There are quite a number of fascinating natural processes that take place when your body shuts down, and this video will explore some of them.
Be sure to keep up if you’re really interested in what happens when your body no longer has anything to do with life.
1. Your Body Gets Incredibly Hard
First off, the body experiences rigor mortis after death — this is usually as a result of depletion of a chemical known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
For the most part, ATP is a chemical in our muscles that’s responsible for relaxation of the muscle fibers after contraction.
The thing is, adenosine triphosphate is produced metabolically by your cells, but everything ends the moment you stop breathing.
At this point, the microscopic fibers lock up, and your body enters rigor mortis.
In essence, becomes rock hard!
2. Illusive Hair and Nail Growth
Here’s the thing; hair and nails don’t grow when you’re dead — it only looks that way.
What you should know is that death makes the skin to dry out and this causes it to shrink away from your hair follicles and cuticles.
Once this happens, your hair and nails will look longer than they were when you were alive — it’s as simple as that.
3. Your Skin Gets Tainted
Next up, when one dies, fake blood pools and thickens in the lowest body parts — this happens when your heart stops working or when it no longer keep the blood flowing.
For the most part, blood is likely to pool around your backside if you’re lying on your back or it might go over to your feet and ankles if you’re sitting down.
Pretty sure you get the point!
4. You Become Wrinkle-free
This is a pretty good one — your wrinkles actually disappear when you kick the bucket.
Why? Well, it’s only because all muscle tension goes away the moment you die and as you probably guessed, they’ll stop pulling on your forehead and the like.
5. Your Gut Bacteria Goes Crazy
Finally, your gut bacteria go bonkers the moment your heart stop beating — they’ll no longer have to aid digestion or keep your immune system in good shape.
Instead, the bacteria in your gut will have a blast with their new-found freedom and use the blood vessels as a channel to several different parts of the body.
This is the primary reason why you wouldn’t want to smell a dead body.
And that’s it! These are just a few things or natural processes that happen when you die — at least now you know what’s bound to happen when your eyes become perpetually shut!
