I didn’t eat Fruits or Vegetables for 4 weeks. Here’s what happened
Today, most if not all of us are aware that fruits and vegetables are not just delicious, they’re also chock full of nutrients that help ward off diseases and keep you healthy.
First off, I really like my fruits and veggies — I eat them every other day and have since been enjoying their amazing health benefits.
However, I decided to stay off fruit and veggies for a while to see exactly how my body would react to the change and yes, I actually saw that these foods are incredibly important for our health and overall well-being.
For the record, I ate nothing with fruit or vegetables for four weeks straight, and that really took a toll on my health.
For starters, my digestion went out of place — I experienced constipation and bloating, and that was probably as a result of the lack of fiber in my diet.
What’s more, I started to feel low on energy, and I saw that the numbers on the scale began to creep up (this happened because I ate things that contain higher amounts of calories).
As you probably guessed, cutting out fruits and veggies from your diet will cause you to eat more foods that are high in energy density, and that’ll only lead to unnecessary weight gain.
To make matters worse, I started to feel low and depressed — I never knew that there was a link between what we eat and our mental health, but my avoidance of fruits and veggies made me know better.
What’s more, my immunity took a hit after some weeks, and I struggled with colds and dry skin.
The thing is, I’ve actually read about a few bad things that could happen when you fail to eat your fruit and veggies.
For the most part, you’re more likely to get hit by heart disease, diabetes, vision loss and some cancers compared to others that have a regular diet of fruit and vegetables.
The good thing is, all these won’t happen right away but it’s best you do the needful to keep them at bay.
All in all, I found that we really need fruits and veggies to stay healthy and disease-free in the long run.
Chowing down on vegetables alone can protect your cells from DNA damage, reduce inflammation and even fight carcinogens.
The bottom line; always eat your fruits and veggies even if you don’t want to — you’ll be doing your body a solid. Stay healthy!
