Let’s face it; no one can escape the passage of time — as sad as it sounds, we’re all going to get old and wrinkly one day.
It’s however important to note that your daily habits can cause you to look way older than you really are.
In other words, your perceived age may not be linked to your genetics alone — there are other factors you’ll want to consider.
The good news? There’s no need to rely on expensive creams or other anti-aging treatments; you only have to ditch these seven habits.
1. Sleeping on Your Side
Do you do this? If yes, you’ll want to quit the habit and stick to sleeping on your back.
The thing is, sleeping on your side is the surest way to increase wrinkles on your skin, most especially your cheeks and chin.
That said, it’s in your best interest ditch squashing your face into the pillow and start sleeping flat on your back!
2. Following Low-fat Diets
Want your skin to look healthy and youthful? I’m pretty sure you do.
Well, the thing is, your low-fat diet won’t do you any good in this regard — you actually need a little fat to keep your skin plump and supple.
Try adding foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids in your diet — fish and nuts will work great.
The bottom line; a plumper skin will keep wrinkles at bay and allow you to stay younger longer.
3. Using a Straw To Sip Drinks
Most of us are guilty of this habit — we love sipping beverages, alcohol and even water through a straw.
However, you should know that squinting your eyes and pursing your lips can create premature wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.
The lip part also applies to smoking. All in all, try to use a glass instead and as for smoking, just quit already.
4. Failing To Use Sunscreen At All Times
Going in the sun without protection will damage your skin — it’s the surest path to premature skin aging.
It’s in your best interest to wear sunscreen regardless of whether the day is sunny or cloudy.
The bottom line; UV rays are not friendly, so keep slathering that sunscreen all day every day.
5. Not Getting Enough Sleep
Here’s the thing; beauty sleep is no joke — sleeping for up to 7 hours each night can make your skin glow.
Besides the baggy eyes and dark circles, failing to get enough sleep can shorten your life.
According to experts, it’s in your best interest to hit the hay on time if you perceive symptoms of sleep deprivation like tiredness, mental fogginess or attention problems.
6. Bad Posture
Looking to keep premature deformity at bay? If yes, work on your posture.
Poor posture is likely to take a toll on your backbone — it deflects the normal alignment and causes the muscles to be abnormally tense.
These avoidable damages will eventually lead to pain, fatigue and even worse, permanent deformity.
7. Watching TV For Hours
Finding it hard to resist a marathon session of your favorite movies? Well, you’re not alone on that one!
However, you should know watching hour after hour of television can shorten your life.
Don’t take from me, take it from the experts. One study actually found that every hour you spend watching TV decreases your life expectancy by 22 minutes!
That said, you’ll want to do yourself a favor by getting up every 30 minutes to walk and stretch — your body will thank you for that!
Now it’s your turn! Start checking off these habits and stay youthful! Good luck!
