Do you know that there are some parts of your body that you might have not yet discovered? This might sound weird, but I would bet that there are some peculiarities of your body that you’re totally unaware of.
Still in doubt? No problem! Right now, I’m going to explore up to six peculiarities of your body so you can get a better idea of how it is structured. Sounds good? Let’s get started!
1. Levator Labii Superioris
For starters, Levator Labii Superioris is Latin for upper lip muscle. If you’ve seen some photos of the King of Rock’n’Roll, you would have noticed the lifted part of his upper lip in most of them. Levator Labii Superioris is the muscle that lifts the upper lip and at the same time, deepens the nasolabial fold. Just have it at the back of your mind that this plays its role in creating facial expressions.
2. Glabella
What do you call the part of your forehead between the brows? There’s a good chance that most of you are totally unaware of this body part. Well, it’s known as the glabella. Doctors use this spot to measure skin tugor in patients who might be suffering from dehydration.
It’s also good to know that you can check your neurotic reflex with the help of the glabella. How? Well, just tap the spot repeatedly — you know that your reflex is great if you start blinking.
3. Lip and Tongue Frenulum
The Frenulum is a body part that provides support to the upper lip and tongue. In case you didn’t know, these small folds are what helps your tongue to move in the desired direction and also limit its movement at the same time.
4. Tragus
The tragus is the little gristle of the external ear that helps catch sound from behind. In other words, it plays the role of hearing sounds from behind and even goes further to define its source.
5. Hallux
This is yet another important body part that gives you static balance. The hallux which is also known as your big toe controls pronation of the foot and also provides support to nearly 40% of our body weight.
6. Lacrimal caruncle
When we talk about body parts that have zero significance to us, the Lacrimal caruncle is sure to come into play. For the most part, the Lacrimal caruncle is small pink mucous detail located at the inner corner of eye — it’s one body part that has no use to the human structure.
And that’s it! Six body parts that you may have never thought about all these years. Do you think there are other ones that are worth mentioning? Let us know in the comments!
