6 Natural Face Mask Options for Acne Removal
When it comes to acne, some individuals are extremely lucky and don’t experience it at all, while others can’t seem to get rid of it once it starts.
Acne and the scars it causes happen because the skin creates too much oil which consequently clogs up your pores.
Luckily, there are tons of natural options out there that you can mix and match, to create do-it-yourself face masks, that will not only help you lessen the appearance of acne scarring but help acne from reoccurring after long-term face mask use.
When looking at which components to use in your natural face mask, choose antimicrobial ingredients like tea tree oil, honey, aloe vera, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and oatmeal.
With this said, here are 6 natural face mask options that you can try at home which are relatively inexpensive to make.
1. Dairy Based Option: the ingredients include, turmeric, raw milk or Greek yogurt and honey.
For this one you will need to use a brush or cotton balls in order to apply the mask otherwise you will end up staining your fingers because of the turmeric.
Apply it generously and leave it for ten to fifteen minutes.
You will need 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 3 teaspoons of raw milk or Greek yogurt which is unflavoured, and 1 teaspoon of raw honey.
2. Cinnamon Based: the ingredients you will need include, cinnamon, honey, and aloe vera.
This one you only need to rub it in for about a minute and leave it for ten minutes.
You will require 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 3 teaspoons of raw honey, and 2 teaspoons of aloe vera juice (or 1 inch of the gel of the plant).
3. Baking Soda Based: the ingredients include, baking soda, honey, coconut or olive oil.
This is similar to other masks in that you will one to two minutes to rub it in and then let it sit for ten to fifteen minutes.
You will need 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of raw honey, and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
4. Tea Based: the ingredients include, green tea, lemon, honey, and sugar.
This mask is perfect for those who want to create it without having to go out to the store to buy the ingredients as you more than likely have them in your cupboard.
This mask should also be left on for ten to fifteen minutes but it should be rubbed into the face for one to two minutes in a circular motion before leaving it to sit.
You will need 1 tablespoon of green tea or a tea bag, 1 tablespoon of raw honey, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, and 3 teaspoons of brown sugar.
5. Fruit Based: the ingredients include, papaya, lemon, coconut or olive oil, and honey.
This mask also only needs ten to fifteen minutes to soak in, so it’s a great option for those who don’t have a lot of time in the morning or at night.
You will need 2 tablespoons of fresh papaya without the seeds, 1 teaspoon of raw honey, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
6. Vinegar Based: the ingredients include, apple cider vinegar, honey, and baking soda.
This mask is a great option if you are someone who doesn’t want to leave it on your face for very long.
It only requires ten to fifteen minutes and can be easily rinsed off with warm water.
If you want the exfoliating benefits of the baking soda, then use a washcloth to apply a little pressure when wiping it off.
You will need 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, 2 teaspoons of raw honey, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda.
The only other thing that you need to keep in mind if you want to start using masks is to make sure your pillows are clean and that you don’t pick at your face.
If either of these happens, using the mask may do you no good as both an unclean pillowcase and touching your face spreads bacteria around.
You can use the mask as often as you’d like but it is recommended that you do it one to two times a week.
