4 BIG LIES THAT YOU STILL BELIEVE!
Let’s face it; sometimes it pays to be skeptical — at least this way, we won’t end up believing anything and everything that comes our way.
Well, most of us actually got all this information from our parents and teachers, and that’s precisely why we keep following them regardless of how false they may be.
The good news is, all of that is about to change! Here are five common lies you would want to stop believing.
1. Shaving Makes Hair Grow Thicker
There’s a good chance of hearing people say shaving makes your hair to grow back thicker and longer — it probably came from your parents and grandparents.
For instance, there’s a belief that kids shouldn’t start shaving immediately when they hit puberty as doing this will cause the hair to grow thicker, longer and faster, and they’ll probably end up looking like Chewbacca. Well, guess what? That’s a lie.
The thing is, the hair actually becomes thicker and darker over time, but it has absolutely nothing to do with shaving.
So, if you’ve been looking to shave your legs or upper lips, then have at it — nothing will happen to your precious skin.
2. We Use Only 10 Percent of Our Brains
This is yet popular myth that most people find to be absolutely true.
People who believe that we only use 10% of our brains feel that we could become super intelligent or even develop superpowers if we knew how to use more.
Well, as much as you want this to be true, it’s yet another lie you need to stop believing.
According to science, we use just about every part of our brains all the time, and there’s no part that does absolutely nothing. So, quit trying to figure out how to use more of your brain power already!
3. Antibiotics Kills Bacteria
Today, antibiotics are recognized as an incredibly powerful cure for a variety of diseases, and that’s great.
However, what everyone should know is that they only fight bacteria and not the other way around. In other words, those pills won’t do you any good if you got the flu or other viral infections.
The bottom line; they don’t work for viruses.
It’s in your best interest to see a doctor or get a special anti-viral medication if you really want to be in tiptop shape.
4. Eight Hours of Sleep
Last but not the least is the myth that we have been hearing about for years, and many still live by it even as we speak.
It’s widely believed that every adult has to sleep for exactly eight hours a day to stay healthy.
Well, many scientists have debunked this claim saying that sleeping hours vary from person to person and it has a lot to do with genes among other things.
All in all, sleeping for eight hours is good, but it’s way better to stick to what your body needs.
And that’s it! These are just four common lies that you’ve probably believed your whole life — there are still a whole lot more out there, but it’s great to start working on these for now.
Also, quit believing we have only five senses, according to scientists, we have close to 20 including balance, pain, movement, and thirst. Happy debunking!
